On Saturday, February 8th, 2025, a 40-foot container carrying 500 bicycles arrived at our Ghana office in Accra. This marks one of our largest shipments to Ghana this year and represents months of collection efforts from donors across the United States and United Kingdom.
Our dedicated Ghana team immediately began the unloading process, working throughout the weekend to ensure the bicycles were safely removed from the container and brought into our warehouse facility.
Following unloading, our trained mechanics conducted a thorough assessment of each bicycle. The majority arrived in excellent condition, requiring only minor adjustments. Where needed, the team performed quick repairs including tire inflation, brake adjustments, and chain lubrication to ensure every bike was road-ready.
This rapid turnaround is crucial for meeting the needs of our partner programs in Northwestern Ghana, where students and community members are eagerly waiting for reliable transportation.
These 500 bicycles are now being loaded onto smaller regional transport trucks for delivery to partner programs throughout Northwestern Ghana. This region includes remote communities where bicycles dramatically improve access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
The distribution will support multiple schools and community programs, with exact allocations determined based on current needs assessments from our field coordinators.
Every container we ship transforms hundreds of lives. Support our shipping fund to help us deliver more bicycles to communities across Ghana and Sierra Leone.
