In February 2025, Village Bicycle Project completed a significant distribution of 60 bicycles to students at Buma Ansarul Islamic Primary School in Bo District, Southern Province of Sierra Leone.
For many students in this community, the journey to school can take over an hour on foot, often through challenging terrain. With these new bicycles, students can now reach their classrooms in a fraction of the time, arriving fresh and ready to learn.
The distribution was coordinated with local education officials and community leaders to ensure bicycles went to students who would benefit most. Priority was given to students traveling the longest distances and those with the best attendance records.
Each recipient also received basic bicycle maintenance training, empowering them to keep their bikes in good working condition. This sustainable approach ensures the bicycles will serve students for years to come.
Every bicycle we distribute transforms a student's education. Join us in bringing sustainable transportation to communities across West Africa.
